So we have yet another holiday to celebrate while the stay at home orders persist for many of us. And for others, even if you are able to leave, I know many are still playing it safe to keep their families and others healthy and safe.
But Father’s Day is coming and the celebration must go on!!
If you haven’t seen my post on Mother’s Day hacks in quarantine, I’ll link that right here.
That also has similar and really helpful tips for making the best of these holidays.
So let’s keep this short and sweet. Here are some updated tips for Father’s Day!
1. Find and Purchase Your Gift Early
Whether this is being sent to your dad or is for your husband, this still stands.
I’m sure for anyone who is purchasing anything online at the moment, you are still experiencing delays, possible missing or lost items, etc. So it’s positive to plan ahead, especially for this.
We have all been stuck at home for a long time now and, knowing that celebrations won’t be the same can lend a damper to what you’re trying to achieve.
But! If you put a little thought behind your gift and a little extra time and effort, I’m sure that gift will be much more well received this year than any before.
So do the planning and try to get it in on time and in one piece. But on the off chance that you don’t, definitely have a back up.
Some of these little back up pleasantries can be favorite snacks that are easy to find that you can bring home or send in a care package, refill your bar cart so you can make his favorite drink, things like that.
2. Plan Your Visit or Zoom Brunch!
Next, make sure you already have plans for how you will be able to spend time together. Are you in an area that you can visit in person and is it safe?
If so, ride on over! I’m sure it will be the most joyous reunion yet, and on what better day! Obviously if you’re celebrating with your husband at home, then make a day of it for him and have a blast!
But if you’re still stuck doing the zoom thing… then check your wifi connection, set up a beautiful table so again it looks like you put effort into this zoom call, and unplug from the rest of your media.
This is an important one. Your dad, if you can’t be with him, wants to feel like you’re there. Your are spending time together. It’s not the same if you’re constantly checking your phone. So be there for him.
3. Add Your Personal Touch!
Finally, although most guys say they don’t care about the little things, they actually really care. Especially for my father, every little detail is accounted for and loved.
So if you know something that will make this year’s father’s day extra special, try and get it.
It can be as simple as sending a card if you haven’t before. Reading your words will melt your dad’s heart, especially if he isn’t used to it. Sending a picture is another great way to tug at the heart strings :).
Take a moment and get to thinking what will still help make this year a father’s day success.
